Orange Diamonds

Is It Natural?

Natural orange diamonds are so rare that most jewellers have never seen one, and will never own one. In recent years, treatment processes have been developed to alter the colour of some diamonds, but so far all of the orange diamonds we have bought are believed to be natural.

How Rare?

In our first twenty years of designing diamond rings, we had only owned 5 coloured diamonds, four of which were certificated as natural. Among the 100 largest diamonds in the world only 1 out of 66 is orange, although there are a number of other famous orange diamonds. In recent years the Argyle mine in Australia has produced a relatively large number of fancy coloured diamonds including orange ones.

How Expensive?

Quality for quality, fancy orange diamonds are more expensive than ordinary near-colourless ones. We have seen astronomical prices quoted for orange diamonds, but we manage to source small numbers at reasonable prices.

What About Rubies or Orange Sapphires?

Why bother to get so excited about orange diamonds, when we could use rubies or orange sapphires instead? The very best sapphires are quite expensive, and they still do not have the sparkle that orange diamonds possess. In addition even though sapphires are very hard and durable, diamonds are many times harder and even more durable.

Rings

We design and create diamond rings, and we have found that many other people share our love of orange diamonds and other fancy colours. So far we have only made a small number of rings using orange diamonds, but we are busy right now with a few new ones. The problem seems to be that we sell them as fast as we can find the diamonds, and make the rings.
